February Self Love Challenge!



February is here, and with it being the month where Valentines Day falls, I wanted to create a challenge for you that I feel REALLY passionate about (if you listen to Body Bites with Bec regularly, you'll know this - I bang on about it all the time 😂... self care / self love)

 

Why step up self care? How is it even related to weight loss, gut health & overall health?

To answer this question, I would have to write 10 pages. Honestly, it's so important - and extremely vital if you want to reach our goals.

 

Firstly, stress and sleep impact weight loss, your gut health, your mood and your inflammation. When you calve out time for more things that bring you peace, it can lower your stress and improve your sleep. This can also, in turn, help you feel happier and therefore more motivated and driven to hit the gym, make your healthy meals and focus on your goals. I've personally become obsessed with stepping my self care up MORE when I'm super stressed and busy. Because, it helps me prevent burnout - and when we burn out, what use are we to anyone? It's so much harder to get to the gym or to make the right choices. Also, it helps me focus for work so so so much better.

 

I'll share more connections in the coming weeks and on the podcast.

 

It's something that can take TIME to prioritise if you're not prioritising YOU enough yet. But that's exactly why I want you to do it every day this month... and then, you can start to see for yourself how it impacts other areas of your life. and hopefully, continue on with the habit!!!

 

The more you take care of YOU, the quicker you'll reach your goals.

 

How to use the PDF and do this challenge?

The aim is for you to download our pretty PDF that has been made and write down one thing that you have done for the day that has been for YOU and has made you feel present and relaxed. We can all find the time to add something small to our days (especially when it's a priority).

 

Some examples:

  • Walk in nature in the sunlight
  • Taking a bath
  • Laying at the beach
  • Sitting in silence instead of on your phone whilst you drink your coffee (I love doing this)
  • Listening to music and dancing
  • A sauna session
  • Reading a book
  • Actually taking a lunch break and mindfully eating for 20 minutes before you return to the screen
  • A guided meditation or activation (I'm in LOVE with the Activation App - I've been listening to one twice a day this year, also Calm is amazing)
  • Finally booking in to see a Naturopath, acupuncturist or other health care professional
  • Vegging out watching Netflix (my Sunday arvo activity & every night before bed)

 

How to utilise the Facebook group for this challenge:

  1. Share your way that you have added some self care into your day in the group & what you gave up to make time for it. Eg - asked my husband to look after the kids whilst I went and laid at the beach for half an hour.

 

  1. When you feel results, share that too! Eg - I took a break from work to walk around the block in the sunshine and I returned feeling so much more calm and ended up having a way more productive afternoon than I usually would!
